oops, i did it again . . .

Funny story . . . (ignore the date stamp!) Anna has been talking herself in and out of getting her ears pierced ever since we did Sara's. Three times now, we've been in the store with her ready to go. And then it's a no go! The most recent trip involved another girl actually getting her's pierced while we were there. I asked if we could watch 'cause I though Anna should know exactly what she was in for. Well, when the lady pulled out and loaded "the gun" - ANNA WAS OUTTIE!! She hid behind me, and behind a rack of earrings and wouldn't look. That's okay, and we left. She gets very worried about anything that involves pain (especially shots) and that gun that was gonna shoot earrings through ears was the last straw!
Thursday we took a trip back to Claire's to get some finger nail polish so we could do this:
While we were browsing, she informed me that she'd like to look at the earrings again. She had chosen, last time, the ones she wanted. And wanted to take another look at them. To my surprise, she informed me that she wanted to do it today, because Dad would be SO surprised! (He was gone for 3 days at youth conference.) Alrighty then! It's funny what motivates when you're 6! The best part of the whole thing was that after it was over and during the car ride home, she repeatedly told me that I had been right - it hadn't been that bad! And that she would try not to worry so much about things that I told her not to worry about ;) She even said in her prayers that night "Please help me to not worry so much about things." If only it were that easy ;) I wish I'd learned at an earlier age not to worry so much about things my mom told me wouldn't be so bad!

Six years old is an incredible age in my opinion! What a brave little girl to decide to just go for it! Glad she has such a great Mom to help her along the way!

I've been going through the same thing with my daughter. She's informed me that she'll think about it again when she turns 7. In August. This really is such a fun age, and your daughter is almost as adorable as mine. ;)
